The Mille Miglia is a legendary road race that took place between 1927 and 1957 in northern Italy.
In 1977 the car race was relaunched under the name of "Mille Miglia Storica".
The Mille Miglia Museum, opened in 2004, welcomes historic cars in a perfectly organized and easy exhibition itinerary.
Already from the entrance it is easy to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the time: visitors are provided with an audio guide tablet that illustrates the various sections of the museum with explanations and films. The visit proceeds among the parade of historic cars of considerable value: vintage cars from 1927 to the 1960s, a section dedicated to contemporary Miglia Miglia and a long list of memorabilia such as photographs, posters, road signs and even petrol pumps.
The particularity of today is that it is no longer a question of having fun driving, but rather of living the experience of traveling in a vintage car and being seen driving cars from other times.
There are also many photographs and portraits, as well as old newspaper clippings. At regular intervals, different models of the cars that were driven at that time are exhibited and presented in the museum. In addition to the pictures and vehicles, other historical objects are also on display, such as petrol pumps, petrol pumps and motorcycles, as well as valuable documents.
The exhibit follows a broad red line on the floor that guides the visitor through the museum pieces. This goes through the connected buildings once around the courtyard of the property. The interior walls of the forecourt are also decorated with large vehicle pictures and posters. If the weather is good, classic racing cars are also shown.
The actual museum was set up in the former monastery "Santa Eufemia della Fonte" outside Brescia.
It consists of several partially connected buildings and a large courtyard surrounded by flags. From a landscape point of view, it is surrounded by greenery and conveys a relaxed and old-time atmosphere. However, it has excellent transport links and is easily accessible by car.
The Mille Miglia Museum also includes a restaurant serving traditional Italian dishes and a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs of the legendary road race.
Car lovers call the museum one of the most interesting in the world and often visit it several times.
The Mille Miglia Museum is located in Brescia in viale Bornata, 123, it is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00.
