On the weekend of 25-26 March 2023, the FAI Spring 2023 Days are back and places of art and culture that are usually inaccessible or little-known will also be open to the public in Lombardy.
Organized by Fondo Ambiente Italiano, the event will see the extraordinary opening of over 750 places in 400 Italian cities. An unmissable opportunity to get closer to Italian art, culture, history and traditions and enjoy the lesser-known wonders of our country.
Among the sites open in Brescia and its province, we point out:
In addition to these extraordinary openings, there are also exclusive visits to many other historical and cultural sites such as churches, palaces and ancient villages.
Inaugurated on 31 March 2018, the MarteS – Sorlini Art Museum in Calvagese della Riviera is the new and prestigious art gallery that enriches the artistic heritage of Lake Garda and the province of Brescia. There are preserved works of inestimable value collected by the entrepreneur and art lover Luciano Sorlini, now entirely available to the public in an elegant seventeenth-century building.
The MarteS boasts a rich collection of the best Venetian painters of the eighteenth century: Tiepolo, Canaletto, Giovanni Bellini, Ricci, Guardi. The Venetian school is flanked by great Lombard names including Pitocchetto, Savoldo, Bramantino and Palma Il Vecchio in an incredible artistic testimony that is now a public heritage at the behest of its owner, Luciano Sorlini, an entrepreneur from Brescia who died in 2015.
Palazzo Sorlini is an ancient seventeenth-century palace, characterized by spectacular architectural choices, located in Carzago, a splendid town in the Garda hinterland and a hamlet of Calvagese della Riviera.
San Giorgio Resort is located about 30 km from Palazzo Sorlini in Calvagese.
The "Casa del Podestà" is located in Lonato del Garda and belongs to the extraordinary monumental complex which today is at the head of the Ugo Da Como Foundation and includes the Venetian Rocca Visconteo (national monument since 1912), the vast park, the gardens.
The opening of the Casa del Podestà on the occasion of the FAI Spring Days of 25 and 26 March 2023 will allow exceptionally free access to one of the best preserved museum houses in northern Italy.
The guided tour will be guaranteed by the volunteers of the Friends of the Ugo Da Como Foundation and by the young guides of the Paola di Rosa school in Lonato del Garda, trained for the occasion. All the rooms of the residence will be open to the public, from the kitchens to the living rooms, to the studios, up to the gardens and the splendid polychrome facades, decorated with fifteenth-century heraldic motifs of Milanese ancestry.
For the occasion, some works by Giambattista Tiepolo will be visible; these are the 10 Capricci printed with the etching technique and a rare watercolor drawing representing the Coronation of the Virgin, coming from the legacy of Senator Pompeo Molmenti, a refined scholar of the Tiepolos and friend of Ugo Da Como.
San Giorgio Resort is located about 35 km from the Ugo da Como House Museum and Foundation in Lonato del Garda.
For participation, a free contribution starting from € 3 is suggested, which will be used to support the FAI mission.
